Soul Deceiver—Book One—Summary
Krista Coblentz teams with Detective Darnell Simpson, a backslidden Christian, after police discover Krista’s best friend savagely murdered and dismembered. Krista’s relationship with Simpson disintegrates after she accepts an invitation to one of Khalid’s demonic services promoting his perfect one-world church.
Could UNIFY truly be the apostasy and the emergence of a one-world religion foretold in the Bible Christians believe it is—merely a counterfeit forged by Satan himself that shall lead even the elect astray? Or, could it be the perfect church the Bible predicts, rising up out of the darkness, delivering a new world peace by fusing Christians and Muslims together as one?
Ms. Leahz masterfully weaves this end-times thriller with excitement, murder, intrigue, romance and mystery. This fast-paced prophetic classic will leave you breathless and eagerly awaiting the second book in Ms. Leahz’s trilogy.
- “What most Christians forget is that the main purpose of God’s plan for us is to fight and expose evil. Lyn Leahz in her fiction Soul Deceiver writes an amazing tale and embeds the necessary biblical truth to help us see the quagmire of delusion, deception and apostasy that engulf the church today. The gripping story sifts out the words of a sweet-talking devil that wants to unify Christianity with Islam attempting to seduce us with flattery. The story tells how the prudent spirit-filled Christian can stand firm against the works of darkness. “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits].” (Dan 11:32) –Walid Shoebat, International Speaker and Best Selling Author of God’s War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible. Shoebat Foundation
- “Lyn Leahz is a gifted and brilliant author. This fictional thriller is truly a page-turner that will enthrall you from the first to the last word. A highly recommended read!” —Joel Richardson, Best Selling Author of Islamic Antichrist and Mideast Beast. Joel’s Trumpet Online
- “All one needs to do is watch the daily news, or read a newspaper, and compare those words to the Books of Daniel, Ezekiel, or Revelation, to understand the times in which we live. Lyn Leahz does a great job in her book, Soul Deceiver, pulling you into the lives of her characters, to allow you to experience the scenarios of end time prophecy. If you are a lover of end times eschatology, then Soul Deceiver is a must read.” –Tim R. Philley, Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer, Oral Roberts University
- ”It is with great pleasure I recommend Soul Deceiver. Lyn Leahz is a gifted writer, and a remarkable Christian. Through much prayer and creativity, she has written a captivating and timely book about the end times. You will not be disappointed with this page-turner, guaranteed to keep you absorbed for hours! A must read!” –Juliana Worsham, Author, A Joyful Life Made Simple. SimplyJuliana.com
- “Soul Deceiver is a well-written, mind-captivating read. This edgy fictional work keeps you enthralled in events that could be taken right out of today’s news. Lyn Leahz stays true to God’s Word while reminding us of our calling as disciples of Christ. Our primary objective, especially during the end times, is to keep God’s Word pure and to proclaim the Word of God as true without compromise. Lyn skillfully weaves these job requirements into a fast-paced exciting read that I highly recommend!” –Greg Holt, Inspirational Christian Blogs

I have a confirmation through an inside source that all of the police departments across the USA are training for terrorist attacks right now. The reason is that it has been confirmed that in a few months (I don’t know exactly what a ‘few’ is) there will be explosions all over the United States in every major city, in highly populated places (ex.-shopping malls, day cares, schools, theaters, etc.). This same person also confirmed, months ago, all the FEMA activity and mass ammo purchases.
People… this source is highly credible, and knowledgeable. Everything they have ever told has been correct. Our government is aware of this and preparing. Get down on your knees and pray. Be ready, and be watchful. Hell has come to America. It is here..it is now!
It was also mentioned that there is high probability of a cyber attack, which could take out power all over the USA, including internet, telephone communications, and so forth.
As of late, there have been many prophecies about fires all over America… could this be it?

The shameless media in America cares more about Muslim Brotherhood “demonstrators” being killed and injured, than Christian churches being burnt and devastated by the very same Muslim Brotherhood.
This is why we must become the media.

From The CP:
The recent barrage of attacks on Christians in Egypt, including on members and churches of the nation’s Coptic denomination, are of a scale unseen in modern times and being described as satanic, according to sources living in the country. The persecution watchdog group, Open Doors USA, says Egypt is engulfed in a furnace of fire and Christians are taking on the brunt force of the attacks.
“The attack against the Christians of Egypt is nothing less than a furious satanic attack that aims at terrorizing Christians, imprisoning them at their homes helplessly with no guarantee of protection so their love, peace, hope and testimony may be neutralized,” stated an anonymous Christian leader, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, in a commentary obtained by The Christian Post.
“We, Christians of Egypt, are facing a severe time of persecution and suffering that we may have not witnessed since the Roman times!” the source explained.
Thursday evening, the overall picture coming out of Egypt from news reports was dire. Egypt’s health ministry said that at least 580 people were killed and more than 4,000 injured amidst clashes involving security forces and former President Mohammad Morsi supporters.
From Gary Lane:
What do Muslim Brotherhood members do when Egyptian Security Forces launch a forewarned operation to clear them from Cairo tent cities? Attack Christians. That’s right.
Morsi supporters responded with a monumental attack–unprecedented in modern times–on churches throughout Egypt. The torching and destruction of churches occured within six hours of the start of the military crackdown.
Many Muslims opposed the violent response against Christians. Some Salafists urged the Brotherhood to halt the attacks, and even some Muslims in Upper Egypt reportedly helped Christians defend churches.
One destroyed church in Upper Egypt was built in the fourth century.
Here’s the list of burned churches and buildings:

Earlier this week, Israel freed 26 terrorist murderers – all convicted in public trials under full due process of law – as part of Barack Obama’s way of bribing Palestinian leaders to sit down and talk to Israel about the peace that the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) does not really want or seek.
Thus proceeds President Obama’s Mideast gambling binge – betting someone else’s blood on the success of lousy, corrupt, unpopular, anti-U.S., and anti-Israel Arab leaders: Assad the bloody butcher in Syria, the fanatic Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and now the incompetent and hateful successors of Arafat at the helm of the PLO.
There was once a nice American folk song called “Please Release Me.” It was a romantic song, with nice music and harmless words:
“Please release me, let me go
Release me, and let me love again.”
But now the Obama Administration has pushed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into a new version of “Please Release Me” that has deadly lyrics:
“Please Release Me, let me go,
Release me, and let me kill again.”
President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have agreed to the PLO demand that Israel release convicted terrorist murderers from jail in order to – wait for the cliché -”jump-start talks between the parties.”
The sad truth, in Jerusalem and Jenin as in Guantanamo and elsewhere, is this: convicted and released Arab-Islamic terrorists return to commit murder.
In 2004, Israel released 400 Palestinian convicts and five other prisoners in return for an Israeli (Elhanan Tennenbaum) captured by Hezbollah, and also for the bodies of three soldiers kidnapped on the border. Thirty-five Israelis were murdered by those released, according to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
“Fifty-two percent of those released [in that deal] have returned to terrorism,” observed The Jerusalem Post in a 2010 article reviewing the results of the terrorists’ release. And there have been more than half a dozen such terror releases.
The United States has had similar results.
A U.S. Senate study on the subject two years ago said at least 27 percent of those suspected terrorists released from Guantanamo returned to an active role in terror.
“Facing domestic political pressures, the Bush and Obama administrations released or transferred 600 terror suspects deemed an acceptable threat from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, only to find that 27 percent re-engaged in terrorist or insurgent activities,” reported the AP and The Washington Post in 2012.
Israel has made the same mistake several times, sometimes bowing to domestic pressure to release convicted murderers in order to ransom kidnapped Israeli soldiers and civilians. Such was the case when Israel released hundreds of Palestinian killers and their accomplices in order to gain the release of Gilad Shalit.
Sometimes, Israel has bowed to pressure from tough U.S. administrations. For example, the Nixon Administration once asked Israel to free some terrorists in order to help free Americans kidnapped in Lebanon. These releases were a strategic and moral error. They probably endangered more lives than they saved, and they undercut the legal process. But at least they saved some lives.
But now the Obama Administration has forced Israel to accept a completely politically motivated release of murderers just to create phony momentum for a Palestinian-Israeli peace process that the Palestinians killed and Obama helped bury.
When Obama entered office, he struck an anti-Israeli settlement position beyond that of late PLO leader Yasser Arafat, who talked to Israel even when Israel built housing for Jews in Jerusalem or the so-called West Bank. Obama said Israel would have to stop all construction, if there were going to be talks.
Like Frankenstein’s monster, “The Palestinian-Israeli process” can be brought back to life temporarily and artificially, but it will not bring peace, only monstrous damage. Eventually, the PLO will find a reason to go back to war.
The PLO/Palestinian Authority has lost all power and all legitimacy. Mahmoud Abbas’ term as PA leader expired years ago, and he has less power in Ramallah and Jenin than a dog catcher, but whatever power he possesses has been used to attack Israel and violate the very accords Abbas co-signed alongside Arafat.
Abbas is known to many Westerners and Israelis by the endearing kunya (nickname in Arabic) “Abu-Mazen,” but Abbas has hardly endeared himself. He stopped talks with Israel, and he made an end-run around talks by trying to get the UN to impose a Palestinian state. Abbas has also used vile propaganda honoring terrorists.
In a January 2005 Fatah Day speech, he actually called on Hamas to join his Fatah organization in turning all their guns on Israel. In addition, Abbas has encouraged international boycotts of the Jewish state – all clear treaty violations as well as violations of several American side-letters to the treaty.
Above all, Abbas and the PLO have no interest in peace or working with Israel. However, the PLO’s greatest failing is failing its own people.
Abbas, Hamas, and the other successors of Arafat have brought no success to the Palestinians. They are divided and bitter, and they vie with each other not in building schools, sewers, or a Palestinian state, but in building bunkers and devising stratagems for isolating Israel rather than working with it.
One is sad to see Benjamin Netanyahu making concessions under pressure from the Obama team that claims it is Israel’s best friend. But real friends do not act this way.

Rescuers in helicopters and boats were on Saturday desperately searching for nearly 300 people missing after a ferry sank in the Philippines, with at least 24 already confirmed killed.
August 16, 2013 SOURCE
CEBU, Philippines – Rescuers in helicopters and boats were on Saturday desperately searching for nearly 300 people missing after a ferry sank in the Philippines, with at least 24 already confirmed killed.
The Thomas Aquinas ferry was carrying 870 passengers and crew when it collided with a cargo ship on Friday night in calm waters near the port of Cebu, the Philippines’ second biggest city, authorities said.
While 572 people had been rescued by Saturday morning, 24 bodies had been retrieved and 274 were still unaccounted for, Rear Admiral Luis Tuason, vice commandant of the Philippine coastguard, told AFP.
The accident occurred in the mouth of a narrow strait leading into the port between two and three kilometres from shore, authorities said.
“They are using search lights to scan the waters, but still there is a possibility you can miss those floating at sea,” Joy Villages, an official at the coastguard’s public affairs office headquarters in Manila, told AFP before dawn on Saturday.
“Rescuers are trying to get to all of them.”
Tuason then told DZMM radio just after sunrise there were hopes that some of the missing had been picked up by fishermen who had joined in the rescue effort, or were floating on life rafts.
But he said he expected the death toll would climb substantially.
“Yes, that will still be a big number,” he said.
“We are planning to deploy airforce choppers so there can be an aerial survey so we can find those still on the life rafts.”
Rachel Capuno, a security officer for the ferry’s owners, told Cebu radio station DYSS that the vessel was sailing into port when it collided head-on with the cargo ship.
“The impact was very strong,” she said, adding that the ferry sank within 30 minutes of the collision.
Cebu coastguard commander Weniel Azcuna told reporters the cargo ship, Sulpicio Express 7, had 36 crew members on board, but it did not sink.
Ferries are one of the main modes of transport across the archipelago of more than 7,100 islands, particularly for the millions of people too poor to fly.
But sea accidents are common, with poor safety standards, lax enforcement and overloading typically to blame.
The world’s deadliest peacetime maritime disaster occurred near the capital, Manila, in 1987 when a ferry laden with Christmas holidaymakers collided with a small oil tanker, killing more than 4,300 people.
In 2008, a huge ferry capsized during a typhoon off the central island of Sibuyan, leaving almost 800 dead.
Coastguard public affairs officer Villages said the Thomas Aquinas was a “roll-on, roll-off” ferry that allows vehicles to be driven aboard and is commonly used in the Philippines.
Details on the cargo ship were not immediately available.
In June, seven people died when another roll-on, roll-off ferry mysteriously sank in calm waters in the central Philippines.

Okay, Okay, maybe this is something we have seen coming for decades but now we have proof! The Natural News Forensic Food Laboratory–a science-based research branch of Natural News –purchased a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets from a McDonald’s restaurant in Austin, Texas. Upon investigation they found strange fibers implanted inside the McNuggets. Three, in a single nugget, to be exact, but that’s not all folks! Additionally, they discovered light blue egg-shaped structures, red coloring splotches, and a spherical green object that resembled algae. Makes you want to vomit doesn’t it?
What could all this mean? Well, it’s anyone’s guess at this moment. But some speculate it could be some sort of nanotechnology used in the food (which, in my opinion, is just as bad as GMO’s!). While others claim it’s some sort of ingestible computer chip that passes information on to government agencies. Though we don’t have a definitive answer at this time, doesn’t mean we won’t have one in the future. Hopefully, light will be shed on this subject real soon!
So before you take another trip to your local fast food chain; you just may want to think about what it is you are ingesting. Here is the video clip…

Evangelical Christian leaders in Egypt have joined together to issue a press release – giving their analysis of the current political situation and appealing for prayer.
The press release, issued on 15 August, has been written by Dr. Terence Ascott, CEO and Founder, SAT-7 International (Christian Satellite Television).
Many of us involved in Christian ministry in Egypt are appalled at the misunderstandings about the situation in Egypt being propagated by even normally balanced international media like the BBC, and the way it has, in general, portrayed the Muslim Brotherhood as the victims of injustice.
So, on behalf of myself, Ramez Atallah (General Secretary for The Bible Society of Egypt), Pastor Fayez Ishaq (part of the leadership team at Kasr El Dubarrah Evangelical Church), other ministry leaders in Egypt and the leadership of Middle East Concern, please allow me to paint a bigger picture of what has been going on the past year or so:
Yes, former President Morsi was elected “democratically” in June 2012, but only by the slimmest of majorities, and only 13 million people (out of a total population of 83 million) voted for Morsi at all. And yet he took this as a mandate to do as he wanted, with a winner-takes-all attitude.
His new government was not inclusive and he quickly appointed former Muslim Brotherhood leaders (some with previous convictions for violence or incitement to violence) to serve as regional Governors or government Ministers. In November 2012, he illegally gave himself new sweeping powers to act without censure, and rushed through a new pro-Islamic constitution despite the protests and boycotts from liberals, moderate Muslims and Christians, and then he refused to call for new elections – as had previously been agreed to do after a new constitution had been adopted.
And, of course, the economy was very poorly managed by the new Ministers, whose only apparent qualification for office was the fact that they were Muslim Brotherhood loyalists. By the end of 2012 the country’s infrastructure had begun to fall apart, electricity and fuel supplies became unreliable, prices for basic commodities soared and Egypt struggled to get much needed international financing.
By June 30, 2013, on the first anniversary of Morsi’s election to office, the Egyptian people had had enough! Perhaps as many as 30 million people came out to demonstrate against Morsi continuing in office – this included many who had voted for Morsi a year before and, even if the figure of 30 million cannot be independently verified, it is clear that the number of people on the street was far more than the number of people who had ever voted for Morsi. But, unlike the President of any normal democracy, he refused to go, or even seek a renewed mandate through new elections – confirming to many that the Muslim Brotherhood were just using the new democracy in Egypt to establish a theocracy.
In a situation like this, the last line of defense for democracy is the army. They alone have the power to re-start the democratic process and, by (very) popular demand and with due notice, The army did step in and remove the former President to the absolute delight and relief of MOST Egyptians!
In the past 6 weeks the Muslim Brotherhood has occupied a number of public spaces, to demonstrate for the reinstatement of the former President (currently being held by the army and facing charges related to abuse of power, including substantial material and intelligence support to Hamas).
Unlike the peaceful occupation of Tahrir Square by demonstrators in January 2011, and again at the end of June 2013, these Muslim Brotherhood occupations were dominated by calls for violence against the army, the police, the liberals and, specifically, the Coptic Christians in Egypt – all resulting in the violence witnessed on August 14th, when police stations, hospitals, private and public property were destroyed.
Many Christian churches (at least 40 so far), homes and businesses were also attacked, as well as a monastery, three religious societies, three key bookshops belonging to the Bible Society in Egypt, three Christian schools and an orphanage. The Coptic Orthodox Pope, HH Tawadrous II made a statement about the attacks on churches this week, saying that “this had been expected and, as Egyptians and Christians, we are considering our church buildings as a sacrifice to be made for our beloved Egypt”. Other church leaders have made similar statements, stressing that church buildings don’t make the Church, but the Church is the Body of Christ, made of people who have their faith in Him, and that is getting stronger as it passes through these challenging times.
It is also important and encouraging to note that some Muslims went to protect churches and that, in return, many Christians then sent messages to their fellow Muslim citizens saying, “buildings can be rebuilt again, but you are priceless, so stay safe, and don’t worry about the churches”. And the Egyptian government also announced today that the State would take the financial responsibility for the rebuilding of damaged churches.
The Muslim Brotherhood have been, and remain very effective in portraying themselves as the victims to the media, pointing to how Morsi had been “democratically” elected and that the army “coup” was a major setback to the country’s democratic progress. They have known what buttons to push with the Western press and this seems to be the version that most of the World is hearing – but it is not a version of truth that resonates with the vast majority of Egyptians.
And, while the loss of life these past few days has been most regrettable it has not only been Muslim Brotherhood supporters that have died, and there has been scant reporting on the Muslim Brotherhood’s attempts to destabilize Egypt, It’s calls for violence against the government and its supporters; and there has been a total lack of reporting concerning weapons that the Brotherhood had in the camps and used against the army as it sought to dismantle the sit-ins.
In closing, can I ask for your prayers for this important country – the largest in the Arab World, with the largest Christian Community in the Middle East.
Please pray that:
- The current violence will end soon
- The effective rule of law and order will be re-established for the benefit of all citizens
- There will be effective protection of church and other property against attacks by extremists
- Egypt will be governed for the benefit of all its citizens, with people of different persuasions able to live alongside one another peaceably
- Egyptian Christians will have opportunity to play an increasingly prominent and effective role in addressing the needs of all Egyptians and helping to bring healing and reconciliation in the country
Shepherd Smith is reporting that Area 51 was a top secret base for building U2 Spy planes. The report denies any alien UFO involvement. It is interesting timing that Fox News would roll out a report on Area 51 when a great deal of speculation has been raised this year about Alien disclosure occurring in the near future. Chris Putnam and Tom Horn have released ExoVaticanus which discusses the future role of the Vatican in acknowledging the existence of extraterrestrial life. There are too many strange reports coming out this week. Keep your eyes open this weekend. Too much strangeness.
Obama and the Elites he represents are declaring economic warfare on the American people. There is no way around this story. Get right with Christ and tell those backslidden friends to repent and get right with Christ because these lunatics are collapsing the system. I think the Christian community needs to pray for the unsaved and pray the Lord’s prayer because the disinformation media will not warn the deceived public.
The biggest Bank Robbery of gold in the history of the world has occurred! Of course very little news about this has been reported because the criminals run the American system. This story is especially interesting when connected to previous stories which I have published. The Conspiracy theory community believes that the gold reserves have been moved to the DUMB facilities that have been tunneled under the United States. Craziness abounds with the criminal elite class and their illegally privately owned and run Federal Reserve (FED). Get your family preparation completed now.
I am a Bible believing citizen journalist who is covering this story about coming planetary anomalies. Pete Santelli interview covers all the crazy stuff related to these strange events. I think that everyone should listen to this interview even though some of the views presented are out there. Of course I interpret these events from a Christian perspective and believe in the Biblical account of the fallen angels corrupting humanities DNA with hybrids. I believe in the return of Christ and the rapture of the Church. I do not believe in the great awakening philosophy proposed by New Age belief systems.
I think many facts presented in the interview are factual including the special nuke that was used in Syria. I don’t agree with her take on things related extra-terrestial view. My take is that this is going to be part of the end time extra-terrestial deception by the fallen angels. The philosophies being discussed are more related to New Age philosophies. So I believe that you are getting partially correct information regarding what is going on but the interview also plays into the New Age deception. There are many facts that can be proved that have been reported in this interview.
Here is a special earthquake update on the Pacific Rim supporting the increasing earthquake activity that is being reported in this interview:
Again I am linking my Dead Astronomer Conspiracy to support the claims presented about all the scientists killed:
The meteorite that exploded in southern Russia last month and the near-miss asteroid that passed by the same week have more than a few of us pondering humanity’s potential extinction. But to Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom, these are mere trifles. Asteroids, global warming, or even a super volcano that would take us 100,000 years to recover from “would be a brief pause on cosmic time scales,” Bostrom tells Aeon’s Ross Andersen, who recently profiled him and some of his peers at the university’s Future of Humanity Institute, an article that is worth reading in full.
These experts devote their lives to thinking about the risks that could not merely kill billions but put paid to humanity once and for all. And what really scares them is us—more specifically, what our primitive primate brains are capable of creating. Here’s what gives a human extinction theorist the heebie-jeebies, in increasing order of existential dread:
Nuclear weapons were the first human technology capable of wiping out the human race. It’s not mushroom cloud explosions or radiation that would do it, but rather the resulting nuclear winter, which would potentially create so much dust that the whole planet’s climate is shifted and all of its crops are destroyed. But cheer up: Even then it might not be enough to wipe out every last one of us, and even the risk of a Cold-War-style holocaust seems to be receding for the moment.
Biological Warfare—and Accidents
Scarier are biological weapons, especially once advances in DNA manipulation put DIY plagues within the reach of any apocalyptic cult with a bit of imagination. A disastrous biological event doesn’t even have to be intentional, as Andersen notes: “Imagine an Australian logging company sending synthetic bacteria into Brazil’s forests to gain an edge in the global timber market. The bacteria might mutate into a dominant strain, a strain that could ruin Earth’s entire soil ecology in a single stroke, forcing 7 billion humans to the oceans for food.” Note to hypothetical Aussie miners: Don’t do that.
It seems so innocuous the way that software keeps getting better—fixing our typos, optimizing our high-frequency stock trades, beating us at Jeopardy and chess. But when an artificial intelligence (AI) becomes just a tiny bit smarter than the humans that created it, things could get catastrophically unpredictable, very quickly.
Here’s Andersen again:
Bostrom told me that it’s best to think of an AI as a primordial force of nature, like a star system or a hurricane — something strong, but indifferent. If its goal is to win at chess, an AI is going to model chess moves, make predictions about their success, and select its actions accordingly. It’s going to be ruthless in achieving its goal, but within a limited domain: the chessboard. But if your AI is choosing its actions in a larger domain, like the physical world, you need to be very specific about the goals you give it.
Any safeguards you might think of carry their own unintended consequences. Design an AI with empathy? It might decide that you are happiest with a non-optional intravenous drip of heroin, and do whatever it takes to give it to you. Design an AI to answer questions and crave the reward of a button being pushed? It might figure out a way to dupe you into building a machine that presses the button at the AI’s command. Then, Bostrom explains, “It quickly converts a large fraction of Earth into machines that protect its button, while pressing it as many times per second as possible. After that it’s going to make a list of possible threats to future button presses, a list that humans would likely be at the top of.”
The scenarios basically end up with humans trying to keep a super-intelligent AI in a super-secure prison, and hoping that they’ve thought of everything. They will probably forget something.
The ‘Cosmic Omen’
The above threats may be a subset of a bigger problem. Russian physicist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky noticed in the 1930s that there just weren’t many aliens around. Enrico Fermi made a similar observation 20 years later, and the paradox that bears his name amounts down to a question: “Where are they?”
Robin Hanson, a research associate at the Future of Humanity Institute, “says there must be something about the universe, or about life itself, that stops planets from generating galaxy-colonizing civilizations.” Maybe intergalactic space travel is basically impossible. Or, more ominously, it may be that any sufficiently advanced civilization creates nukes, or biological weapons, or artificial intelligences that lead to its demise. Or it could be something that hasn’t occurred to us yet, or that we are not yet capable of conceiving. But the absence of aliens leads Hanson to a few troubling conclusions:
It could be that life itself is scarce, or it could be that microbes seldom stumble onto sexual reproduction. Single-celled organisms could be common in the universe, but Cambrian explosions rare. That, or maybe Tsiolkovsky misjudged human destiny. Maybe he underestimated the difficulty of interstellar travel. Or maybe technologically advanced civilisations choose not to expand into the galaxy, or do so invisibly, for reasons we do not yet understand. Or maybe, something more sinister is going on. Maybe quick extinction is the destiny of all intelligent life.
For this reason, Bostrom hopes that NASA’s Curiosity rover doesn’t find life on Mars. Because then, perhaps the reason we haven’t met advanced civilizations is that they never existed, not that they self-destructed. The thought that life on Earth is unique would be a lonely one, but for a philosopher of human extinction, much more comforting.
- Book from best-selling conservative authors lays out ‘a blueprint for drafting articles of impeachment’
- They claim the Benghazi outpost was involved in illegal arms transfers to Syrian rebels, akin to the Iran-Contra scandal
- Obamacare may be constitutional, they say, but the president’s men have steamrolled Congress by rewriting portions on their own
- ‘Executive amnesties’ of illegal immigrants, write Aaron Klein and Brenda Elliott, may be impeachable end-runs around legislators
- The Florida-based National Black Republican Association released a list of proposed Articles of Impeachment on Tuesday
Barack Obama should be the second president from the Democratic Party to be impeached in less than 15 years, say the authors of ‘Impeachable Offenses,’ a book that will turn heads all over Washington, D.C.
In a lengthy indictment of President Barack Obama, two best-selling authors argue in a forthcoming book that the current occupant of the White House has committed numerous ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ that could justify his impeachment and removal from office.
‘Consider this book to be … a blueprint for drafting articles of impeachment,’ author Aaron Klein told MailOnline, which exclusively reviewed a copy of his ‘Impeachable Offenses,’ a book co-authored with Brenda Elliott and due out August 27.
‘It is up to the public and ultimately up to to their elected representatives,’ he said, ‘to decide what to do next.’
Obama’s actions, the authors write, include sanctioning an alleged ‘arms-to-jihadist-rebels scheme’ in Benghazi, Libya that ‘aided an Islamist revolution and armed our most dangerous al-Qaeda enemies,’
Those terror groups include al-Qaeda militants fighting alongside Syrian rebels trying to topple dictator Bashar al-Assad.
The now-infamous ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ gun-walking program, as described in the book, was a stealth effort to generate new rationales for limiting U.S. citizens’ purchases of rifles and other long guns. And massive government purchases of handgun ammunition, the authors argue, was an attempt to limit the exercise of Second Amendment rights by ‘dry[ing] up the ammo supply.’
Klein and Elliott – like a growing proportion of Americans, polls show – are dismissive of the Obama administration’s international drone campaign, and question ‘the legality of leading a US-NATO military campaign against Muammar Gaddafi’s regime without congressional approval.’
Still fighting Obamacare: Klein, Elliott and other conservatives argue that although the U.S. Supreme Court pronounced the Affordable Care Act constitutional, the way the Obama administration is implementing the law is not
President Obama’s signature legislative achievement, they write, ‘not only is unconstitutional but also illegally bypasses Congress, infringes on states’ rights, and marks an unprecedented and unauthorized expansion of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) power, constituting a clear case of ‘taxation without representation’ – one of the primary reasons for the American Revolution.’
They also slam the president for green-lighting an ‘unconstitutional war’ in Libya, for funneling billions of ‘clean energy’ dollars to ‘cronies,’ and for instituting the Transportation Security Administration – now familiar to airline travelers everywhere – as an ‘alternative federal police force’ that operates ‘in violation of the Constitution.’
‘Impeachable Offenses’ consists largely of a laundry list of well-worn conservative complaints about the White House and its current occupant. But unlike quick-hit blogs and short investigative series that have dominated right-wing grievances against President Obama, it defends its collected beef with more than 60 pages of footnotes and a systematic connect-the-dots exercise that the president’s defenders will find troublesome.
‘President Obama has clearly violated the limits of his office and the powers granted to him by the United States Constitution,’ said Klein, who, along with Elliott, has already penned two New York Times best-sellers.

|When one observes President Obama’s unwillingness to accommodate America’s four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.
Listed below in chronological order are (1) numerous records of his attacks on Biblical persons or organizations; (2) examples of the hostility toward Biblical faith that have become evident in the past three years in the Obama-led military; (3) a listing of his open attacks on Biblical values; and finally (4) a listing of numerous incidents of his preferential deference for Islam’s activities and positions, including letting his Islamic advisors guide and influence his hostility toward people of Biblical faith.
1. Acts of hostility toward people of Biblical faith:
2. Acts of hostility from the Obama-led military toward people of Biblical faith:
3. Acts of hostility toward Biblical values:
4. Acts of preferentialism for Islam:
Many of these actions are literally unprecedented – this is the first time they have happened in four centuries of American history. The hostility of President Obama toward Biblical faith and values is without equal from any previous American president.

- President Paul Biya has ordered 100 churches closed throughout Cameroon
- The illegal Pentecostal churches are security threats, the government argues
- Pentecostal congregants say criticism of the government is behind the shutdown
Yaounde, Cameroon (CNN) — Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has ordered the closure of nearly 100 Christian churches in key cities, citing criminal practices organized by Pentecostal pastors that threaten the security of the West African nation.
But Pentecostal pastors said the move is evidence of Biya’s insecurity about the churches’ criticism of the government.
Biya is using the military to permanently shut down all Pentecostal church denominations in the nation’s capital, Yaounde, and the North West Regional capital, Bamenda, which have the largest Christian populations in Cameroon.
More than 50 churches have now been closed, with the government targeting nearly 100 in eight other regions.
“We will get rid of all the so-called Christian Pentecostal pastors who misuse the name of Jesus Christ to fake miracles and kill citizens in their churches. They have outstretched their liberty,” Mbu Anthony Lang, a government official in Bamenda, told CNN Wednesday.
Nearly 500 Pentecostal churches operate in Cameroon, but fewer than 50 are legal, he added.
On Sunday, a 9-year-old Christian girl collapsed and died during a prayer session in Winners’ Chapel, a Pentecostal church in Bamenda. The girl’s mother, Mih Theresa, told CNN Wednesday that the pastor intended to cast out the numerous demons that were in control of her daughter’s life.
“I want the government to stop these pastors who use mysterious powers to pull Christians and kill then for more powers. All my children have ran away from the Catholic Church in search for miracles, signs and wonders,” she told CNN while holding back tears.
Another Christian, Mveng Thomas, said his marriage ended abruptly when a Pentecostal pastor ordered his wife to dissolve their union. He said the pastor described him as “an unrepentant devil.”
Pastors marched against the government’s decision Wednesday in Bamenda and Douala. Pastors said the Biya government sees the mass proliferation of churches as a threat.
Boniface Tum, a bishop of the Christian Church of God in Yaounde, said that Biya, who has been president since 1982, is becoming insecure about the freedom of speech within these churches.
“Authorizing only the Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Muslim, and a few other churches, is a strict violation of the right to religion,” Tum added.
Targeted Pentecostal Christians in Bamenda are transforming their private homes into churches.
North West Regional governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique said Wednesday that police had discovered the abduction of 30 children under age 18 by a pastor in Bamenda. The pastor said he wanted to remove the children from a bad society, Lele added.
Government officials also say that some pastors convince congregants that they do not need professional medical treatment for their ailments.
“How can a pastor say the sick needs no medical doctor? We need sanity in our Christian lives,” Nyang Blaise, a youth leader for Biya’s ruling party, CPDM, told CNN.
One woman said her mother was refusing cancer treatments because of her pastor.
“My mother’s condition is worsening after doctors confirmed she had cancer. She is dying silently, and yet we cannot persuade her to see a doctor for proper treatment, against her pastor’s wish,” Deborah Tanyi said.

- Nations condemn crackdown; Egypt official defends it, says troops didn’t cause many deaths

Cairo (CNN) — A day after at least 580 died amid ferocious clashes between protesters and security forces, Egypt’s government defended its actions in the face of sweeping condemnation — insisting its troops fired in self-defense and weren’t even responsible for many of the deaths.
The violence stirred world leaders, some of them longtime Egyptian allies, to sharply criticize the Cairo government for going too far in its treatment of supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy, whom the military forced out of office several weeks ago.
In addition to the hundreds killed, the Egyptian Health Ministry reports more than 4,000 were injured Wednesday in clashes that began when security forces moved in to break up protesters demonstrating in support of Morsy, according to state TV.
There is no disputing the violence was Egypt’s worst since the 2011 revolution that ousted President Hosni Mubarak. Yet Egypt’s ambassador to Great Britain said his government’s forces had done what it needed to do, and done it responsibly, blaming protesters for inciting and carrying out the violence.
“What the Egyptian government did, and the police, is an obligation from any state towards its people, to defend its interests and to protect them,” said Ambassador Ashraf Elkholy. “And 48 days of occupying an area in Egypt, stopping civilians going to their homes or their businesses or their schools, is unaccepted in any community.”
The Muslim Brotherhood — the Islamist group that Morsy had led and that was the target of the crackdown, which it says left even more of its supporters dead — had a very different take. Its officials have characterized the government’s action as a massacre and vowed to continue protests until Morsy is restored to power.
“The protests never stopped throughout the night and we will continue our sit-ins and demonstrations all over the country until democracy and the legitimate rule are restored in Egypt,” Muslim Brotherhood official Essam Elerian said Thursday.
True to Elerian’s word, pro-Morsy protesters kept up the pressure on the interim government, staging a sit-in in Nasr City, blocking a road near the country’s iconic pyramids and storming a government building in Giza, according to state media. Authorities evacuated the building, which caught on fire.
Four people also died Thursday in clashes between Muslim Brotherhood members and residents of the city, state-run Nile TV said.
State-run TV also said Morsy supporters were attacking police stations, hospitals and government buildings in areas outside Cairo, despite a state of emergency declared Wednesday by the military-backed interim government that limits public gatherings and gives more power to security forces to make arrests.
Adding to the tension, the Interior Ministry announced that police would be using live ammunition to fend off any further attacks on government buildings or security forces.
That announcement came as yet more protests were expected on Friday, which raised the possibility of more violence.
Gehad El-Haddad, a Muslim Brotherhood spokesman, tweeted that anti-government protests would start Friday from mosques around Cairo and converge at a massive rally in Ramses Square in the heart of the capital.
Tellingly, El-Haddad coined what was expected to come as a “Friday of Anger.”
The bloodshed that’s already occurred has brought criticism from officials from numerous countries, threatening to further destabilize Egypt’s already precarious economy and political situation.
Among them is U.S. President Barack Obama, who accused the Egyptian government of choosing violence and arbitrary arrests over an opportunity to resolve its crisis through peaceful dialogue.
He further announced the cancellation of joint U.S.-Egyptian military training exercises scheduled for next month — a move Pentagon spokesman George Little shows Washington’s “strong objection to recent events” — and warned that the traditional cooperation between the two nations “cannot continue as usual when civilians are being killed in the streets.”
Obama was among those who urged Egyptian leaders to lift a month long state of emergency put in place Wednesday. The declaration mirrors the kind of stifling police state that the nation lived through under Mubarak, before the Egyptian people rose up in protests that resulted in his overthrow and eventually Morsy’s rise to power as the country’s first democratically elected president.
Pleading for calm, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay asked for an investigation into the violence.
“The number of people killed or injured, even according to the government’s figures, point to an excessive, even extreme, use of force against demonstrators,” she said. “There must be an independent, impartial, effective and credible investigation of the conduct of the security forces. Anyone found guilty of wrongdoing should be held to account.”
The U.N. Security Council convened an urgent meeting Thursday evening on the crisis.
“It is important … that the parties exercise maximum restraint, and there was a common desire to stop the violence and advance national reconciliation,” Argentine U.N. Ambassador Maria Cristina Perceval said on behalf of the council members.
Germany, France and other nations summoned Egypt’s ambassadors to their nations to express dismay over the violence, with Italy typical among them in criticizing the “force used by police (as) brutal, disproportionate and … not justifiable.”
Denmark suspended economic aid to the country. As to the United States — which provides about $1.6 billion in annual aid to Egypt — it is continuing to review such programs “in all forms,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Thursday.
Even predominantly Muslim nations voiced displeasure, with Turkey recalling its ambassador in Egypt to return to Ankara in light of the crisis, a Turkish foreign ministry spokesperson said.

Raids followed by chaos, attacks on churches
The violence erupted as security forces raided pro-Morsy camps Wednesday after weeks of simmering tension. Clashes and gunfire broke out, leaving pools of blood and bodies strewn in the streets.
Authorities bulldozed tents and escorted hundreds of people away. Some mothers and fathers managed to whisk away their children, gas masks on their faces.
Morsy supporters also reportedly attacked a number of Christian churches. It’s not clear how many were targeted, but Dalia Ziada, of the Ibn Khadun Center for Development Studies, said Thursday that her group had documented the burning of 29 churches and Coptic facilities across the country.
“This is horrible to happen in only one day,” she said.
The Bible Society of Egypt said 15 churches and three Christian schools had been attacked, some set on fire.
At least 84 people, including Muslim Brotherhood members, have been referred to military prosecutors for charges including murder and the burning of churches, the state-run EGYNews site reported.
Nile TV said Morsy supporters attacked another church Thursday in Fayoum, southwest of Cairo.
Muslim Brotherhood leader defiant
Rather than uniting Egypt after Mubarak’s fall, divisions intensified during Morsy’s time as president.
Critics accused him of being authoritarian, trying to force the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamic agenda on the country and failing to deliver freedom and justice.
Morsy’s supporters say the deposed president wasn’t given a fair chance and say his backers have been unfairly targeted for expressing their opinion.
Though Morsy has not appeared in public since he was taken into custody, his supporters have amassed on the streets nationwide to slam military leaders and demand his reinstatement.
Meanwhile, Elerian — the senior Muslim Brotherhood member still at large — said he’s not deterred by calls for his arrest.
“They can arrest me and 100 of us, but they can’t arrest every honorable citizen in Egypt,” Elerian told CNN on Thursday. “They can’t stop this glorious revolution.”

As many who read my blogs know, I have a special interest in exposing media which targets the youth through music videos, movies and cartoons. I have noticed that all these avenues push occult & pagan themes and serve as an entertaining way of educating children in witchcraft right under the noses of their parents. This is the primary storyline being promoted by the illuminati. They believe they are the descendents of the fallen angels and the daughters of men. They believe they have a rite to rule over the sheeple. The term half blood is what is commonly used to refer to the godmen.
Christians should be aware that the Greek and Roman mythology taught in Liberal Arts education parallels the Biblical accounts found in the pre-flood world of Noah and the Genesis 6 stories of the fallen angels and the daughters of Men. This of course was the great desire of Sir Francis Bacon in writing the New Atlantis and the founding of the United States of America, to set in motion the recreation of the days prior to the flood. I think it is rather obvious to anyone watching world events that Christianity is being attacked and the occult satanic world view is being promoted. If after viewing this character clip of Percy Jackson, you cannot see the obvious occult agenda being spread then you are going to need to spend time in prayer asking for spiritual discernment in these last days. I will be posting several related stories in the near future. Christ is the only answer in times like these.

“Clearly, any family may be visited by federally paid agents for almost any reason.” According to an Obamacare provision millions of Americans will be targeted. The Health and Human Services’ website states that your family will be targeted if you fall under the “high-risk” categories below: Families where mom is not yet 21. Families where someone is a tobacco user. Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities. Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States. There is no reference to Medicaid being the determinant for a family to be “eligible.” In 2011, the HHS announced $224 million will be given to support evidence-based home visiting programs to “help parents and children.” Individuals from the state will implement these leveraging strategies to “enhance program sustainability.” Constitutional attorney and author Kent Masterson Brown states, “This is not a “voluntary” program. The eligible entity receiving the grant for performing the home visits is to identify the individuals to be visited and intervene so as to meet the improvement benchmarks. A homeschooling family, for instance, may be subject to “intervention” in “school readiness” and “social-emotional developmental indicators.” A farm family may be subject to “intervention” in order to “prevent child injuries.” The sky is the limit. Although the Obama administration would claim the provision applies only to Medicaid families, the new statute, by its own definition, has no such limitation. Intervention may be with any family for any reason. It may also result in the child or children being required to go to certain schools or taking certain medications and vaccines and even having more limited – or no – interaction with parents. The federal government will now set the standards for raising children and will enforce them by home visits.” Part of the program will require massive data collecting of private information including all sources of income and the amount gathered from each source. A manual called Child Neglect: A Guide for Prevention, Assessment, and Intervention includes firearms as potential safety hazard and will require inspectors to verify safety compliance and record each inspection into a database. Last session South Carolina Rep. Bill Chumley introduced a bill, H.3101 that would nullify certain provisions of Obamacare. The bill would give the state attorney general the authority to authorize law enforcement to arrest federal agents for trespassing. It would make forced home inspections under Obamacare illegal in South Carolina. It passed in the House but died in the senate. Kent Brown and Rep. Rick Quinn discuss “forced” home inspections under Obamacare in the video below.
Horrifying moment Egyptian protestors pushed an armoured police van 50ft off a bridge before officers were stoned by mob
My comment: Pray for the people of Egypt. ****Warning some images are disturbing****
This is the horrifying moment an armoured police vehicle was pushed off a bridge by protestors in Cairo today.
The van plunged off the 6th October Bridge before demonstrators attacked the wreckage. It is not known how many people were on board and how many people survived the fall, but bloodied men were seen lying around the van moments afterwards. Unconfirmed reports on Twitter claimed five were dead.
The dramatic pictures show the van being ambushed by dozens of people before crashing through a protective fence on the bridge. It then falls upside down and then rolls onto its roof as it lands. British Sky cameraman Mick Deane was shot and killed as he covered the clashes today
Egypt was warned tonight that ‘the world is watching’ after scores of people were killed in the Cairo massacre. At least 278 are said to be dead and hundreds more injured after a day of bloody violence sparked when security forces stormed a camp to clear protesters supporting deposed President Mohamed Morsi.
Witnesses said many of those killed were hit by snipers on surrounding rooftops. Heavily-armed police and troops reportedly opened fire with machine guns on thousands of demonstrators, including women and children.
As Egypt descended into bloody violence, videos were broadcast which purported to show burned corpses on streets which resembled a war zone. British TV cameraman Mr Deane, working for Sky, was among those killed in the escalating violence, which provoked global condemnation.
The United States lead urgent calls for restraint warning that ‘the world is watching.’ Turkey’s Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan called on the U.N. Security Council and Arab League to take immediate steps to stop a ‘massacre’ in Egypt.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said the violence is deplorable is a serious blow to reconciliation efforts, adding that it runs counter to Egyptians’ aspirations for peace.
He urged Egypt’s interim leaders to take a step back and calm the situation to avoid further deaths. He also said the U.S. strongly opposes a return to a state of emergency law and that should end as soon as possible.
David Cameron also condemned the violence, saying: ‘What is required in Egypt is a genuine transition to a genuine democracy. That means compromise from all sides – the President Morsi supporters but also the military – that’s what needs to happen.
‘We don’t support this violence, we condemn it completely, it’s not going to solve the problems.’
The Muslim Brotherhood claimed over 2,000 people had been killed and thousands wounded in eight hours of continuous firing while Egyptian authorities said Mr Morsi’s supporters opened fire on security forces.
The exact death toll could not be confirmed but an AFP reporter counted at least 124 bodies in three separate locations around the camp in the capital, with many appearing to have died from gunshot wounds.
Last night Egypt’s interim President Adly Mansour declared a month-long state of emergency and night-time curfew in Cairo and ten provinces.
His vice president, Mohamed ElBaradei, resigned in protest at the bloody crackdown.
The scale of today’s violence became apparent after graphic accounts of bloodshed emerged from the two protest camps in Cairo where pro-Morsi supporters demanded his reinstatement.

PM LEADS TRIBUTES TO SKY MAN
Tributes have been paid to a Sky News cameraman who was shot dead in Cairo while covering clashes between Egyptian security forces and protesters.
Mick Deane, 61, who was married with two sons, died this morning.
Prime Minister David Cameron said on Twitter: ‘I am saddened to hear of the death of cameraman Mick Deane, covering Egyptian violence. My thoughts are with his family and Sky News team.’
Head of Sky News John Ryley described Mr Deane as ‘the very best of cameramen, a brilliant journalist and an inspiring mentor to many at Sky’.
Mr Deane, who had worked for the broadcaster for 15 years including stints in Washington and Jerusalem, was with Middle East correspondent Sam Kiley when he was shot.
Sky said the rest of the team covering the outbreak of violence in Cairo with him were unhurt.
Witnesses spoke of canisters of teargas raining down on tents in the main camp in the residential area of Nasr City before security forces opened fire in a determined bid to clear the protesters.
As helicopters hovered low above rooftops, they claimed snipers had taken up position on rooftops around the camp outside the Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque before the dawn attack.
Eye-witnesses said security forces used machine guns and assault weapons to clear the protest camp.
Teacher Saleh Abdulazuz, 39, clutching a bleeding wound on his head, said: ‘At 7am they came. Helicopters from the top and bulldozers from below. They smashed through our walls.
‘Police and soldiers, they fired tear gas at children. They continued to fire at protesters even when we begged them to stop.’
Photographs showed a scene of carnage, with burning tyres sending plumes of black smoke filling the sky and fires smouldering in the streets.
In a statement, the Brotherhood said: ‘The world cannot sit back and watch while innocent men, women and children are being indiscriminately slaughtered. The world must stand up to the military junta’s crime before it is too late.’
Also killed at the protest camp was the 17-year-old daughter of Mohammed al-Beltagy, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who later appealed to his countrymen to ‘ take all the squares of Egypt’ and stop the army ‘ turning Egypt into another Syria.’
A second, smaller camp near Cairo University was swiftly cleared this morning. Egypt’s Interior Ministry , which is charge of the police, said its forces came under fire from the camp.
Video footage from a camera on board an Army helicopter was released by officials who said it showed protesters firing on security forces.
Live TV footage on several channels appeared to show hooded Brotherhood gunmen brandishing what appeared to be small automatic rifles and firing them in the direction of security forces.
Violence spread across Egypt yesterday and more than 300 people had already died in political violence since the army overthrew Islamist leader Mr Morsi on July 3.

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13 (NIV)
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 (NKJV)
Satan likes to weave ornate webs of confusion. He is successful in knitting his traps of deceit because he cunningly interweaves truth within his lies. It takes a discerning spirit to cut away Satan’s guile and recognize his trickery.
To counter the attacks of the enemy, we must put on our spiritual armor. The belt of truth is the first piece of protection mentioned in Ephesians 1:14. God’s truth will always dismantle the lies of the evil one. However, we must know the promises of God written within the pages of the Bible. How else can we expect the Holy Spirit to bring his lies to our attention? Then, with the living Word at hand, we can use our double-edged sword to cut the craftily woven lies to pieces.
Jesus told His disciples in John 14:16-17 that God would give us another Helper who would abide within us forever. This Spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. He will speak only what He hears from the Father and will tell us of what is to come. Therefore, we must fine-tune our hearing in order to heed His advice, instruction, encouragement, and warnings. The Holy Spirit Is also called the Comforter.
When we are confused, the Comforter will help to untangle the lies that serve to harass and hinder our walks. He will point out the fiery darts from the devil, and comfort you with the peace of God. He will remind you that there is no condemnation in Christ, only conviction. Encouragement will fill your heart as the Holy Spirit helps to guide you through the maze before you.
The NIV text of John 14:26 refers to the Holy Spirit as our Advocate. This implies that God has implanted in our spirit one who will work as our defender, champion, and protector. He vindicates and shields us by pointing out the truth, so we can then toss away the lies that were created to wear us down and cause confusion.
If you have a decision to make, and are confused by many options or possibilities, trust that God will use the Holy Spirit to advise and direct you. If it is condemnation and shame that weighs you down and confuses your mind, listen to the Comforter as He speaks words of truth, love and forgiveness. We do not serve a God who wants His children floundering around and unable to clearly think.
Always seek God in prayer and practice your spiritual listening skills. The Advocate and Comforter, the Holy Spirit… will help you to lift the clouds in your mind. With His help, you can break free of the enemy’s web of lies. You no longer need to be ensnared, confused, or powerless.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26 (NIV)
“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:14-17 (NKJV)
“Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.” Acts 2:33 (NKJV)

Cairo (CNN) — In a matter of hours Wednesday, two peaceful protest camps in Cairo turned into unrecognizable war zones. And the violence is still under way.
“I think what we’re seeing right now is just the beginning of what is promising to be a very, very long and bloody battle as the interim government and the security forces try to regain control of the streets,” CNN’s Arwa Damon reported from Cairo.
Egypt declared a month-long state of emergency beginning at 4 p.m. local time (10 a.m. ET), according to state television. A curfew was also established in several cities including Cairo, from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday — and all violators will be jailed, state news reported.
The violence began with Egyptian security forces storming the two massive makeshift camps filled with supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy, bulldozing tents and escorting away hundreds of protesters.
Chaos ensued. Many protesters refused to leave, even in the face of bulldozers and surrounded by the injured and dead. “They said they’re prepared to die,” CNN’s Reza Sayah reported from Cairo.
“It’s an open war,” one protester told Sayah.
Along with smoke, bursts of rapid gunfire continued to fill the air. It was unclear who had the weapons, and who was shooting at whom. People could be heard wailing.
State TV reported that snipers from the Muslim Brotherhood — Morsy’s party — were exchanging gunfire with Egyptian security forces near a university building.
Ninety-five people have been killed and more than 500 have been wounded in Cairo and other parts of Egypt, state TV reported, citing the Health Ministry.
The Muslim Brotherhood said earlier that 200 Morsy supporters were killed and more than 8,000 were injured. But the party has given exaggerated figures in the past, only to revise them later.
Sky News cameraman Mick Deane was killed, the UK-based news channel reported. Deane had worked for Sky for 15 years — and for CNN well before that. The rest of the team was unhurt.
Reuters photojournalist, Asmaa Waguih was shot and wounded Wednesday covering the clashes, the news agency told CNN. She is being treated in a hospital.
Habiba Abdel Aziz of Gulf News, in Egypt in a personal capacity having celebrated the Eid holiday, was also killed, editor-at-large Francis Matthew told CNN.
‘Walking on the blood of the victims‘
“I have personally never seen this much bloodshed in what, according to what we’ve seen over the past six weeks, had been a peaceful demonstration,” Sayah said.
Visiting makeshift hospitals, a CNN crew was “literally walking on the blood of the victims,” he said.
One man who appeared bloodied told CNN his friends were killed.
The fighting wasn’t limited to Cairo. Morsy supporters besieged various churches in Sohag, setting fire to Saint George’s Church, a tour bus and a police car, Egypt’s state-run EgyNews reported.
Interior Ministry sources told CNN that Muslim Brotherhood supporters also attacked three police stations around Egypt.
Naguib Sawiris, an Egyptian billionaire who helped found the anti-Morsy Free Egyptian Party, said his party had video of Muslim Brotherhood members “shooting machine guns on civilians, on police. So anyone who wants to call this a peaceful demonstration would be wrong.”
He also insisted, “This is no war zone.”
But Ahmed Mustafa, Muslim Brotherhood spokesman, told CNN from London that Sawiris was trying to misrepresent video of masked people with weapons.
The Muslim Brotherhood also said police were throwing Molotov cocktails at makeshift clinics.
The Interior Ministry said security forces did not use gunfire and instead were attacked by “terrorist elements” inside the camps.
“Egyptian security forces are committed to the utmost self-restraint in dealing with the protesters,” the ministry said.
Representatives of both sides insisted they oppose violence.
“Today is a tragic day in Egypt,” said Abdul Mawgoud Dardery, part of the pro-Morsy Anti-Coup National Alliance, in an interview with CNN.
He blamed “corrupt elements” in the Egyptian army, calling their actions a “crime against humanity” and “state terrorism.”
“The whole international community should not only condemn this but should not have any dealing with the coup,” he demanded.
But Shehab Wagih, spokesman for the Free Egyptian Party, spoke out in support of the military.
“There is no other resolution when someone is establishing a state inside your state,” he said.
“We believe in human rights,” he insisted. “But at the same time, we cannot accept the idea of having a state inside a state.”
The raids began around dawn. Within three hours, forces had cleared the smaller of the two camps — the Nahda camp, near the Cairo University campus. All that remained were shreds of torn-down tents.
But the larger protest, near the Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque in eastern Cairo, proved trickier, with forces facing heavy resistance. The military called in special forces. Protester Hassan Al Qabana described it as a “full-on assault.”
The government blocked all roads leading to the Rabaa camp and suspended rail service to Cairo. The Muslim Brotherhood claimed the suspension was an attempt to prevent more of its members from streaming into the city.
Morsy supporters flooded a bridge leading to Rabaa al-Adawiya square, video from state-run Nile TV showed. Some of the protesters clashed with security forces.
In an effort to fend off security forces, protesters had broken off tree branches and dragged pipes and planks to build makeshift barriers in the streets near the Rabaa camp.
Mothers and fathers whisked away children, gas masks on their faces.
Those who spoke to CNN insisted they had no weapons and were demonstrating peacefully.
But the Interior Ministry said more than 200 were arrested, caught with weapons and ammunition.
Government says kids used as human shields
For six chaotic weeks, Morsy supporters had amassed at the two camps — refusing to budge until Morsy was reinstated.
They lived and slept in tents. Vendors offered everything from haircuts to masks. Children played in inflatable castles and splashed in kiddie pools.
The government has accused the protesters of packing the sites with their children to use them as human shields.
The raid Wednesday was not unexpected.
Since the Muslim holy month of Ramadan ended last week, the protesters had hunkered down and waited for the crackdown that the government had long hinted at.
They fortified their sites with sandbags, tires and stacks of bricks, bracing for the raid.
The protests started soon after Egypt’s military toppled Morsy in a coup last month.
Hundreds have been killed and thousands have been injured in recent weeks, either in clashes between opposing protesters or in clashes between protesters and Egyptian security forces.
Last month, Information Minister Durriya Sharaf el-Din said the gatherings were a threat to national security and caused traffic congestion.
And two weeks ago, Mansour issued orders in the event of a possible “state of emergency,” the EGYnews website reported.
“State of emergency” is a loaded term in Egypt. Former President Hosni Mubarak ruled for 30 years under an emergency decree that barred unauthorized assembly, restricted freedom of speech and allowed police to jail people indefinitely.
Morsy became Egypt’s first democratically elected president in 2012, a year after popular protests forced Mubarak to resign and end his three-decade rule.
But a year into Morsy’s term, many Egyptians wanted him out, too. They said the Western-educated Islamist, aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood movement, was not inclusive and had failed to deliver on the people’s aspirations for freedom and social justice.
Morsy was accused of authoritarianism and trying to force the Brotherhood’s Islamic agenda onto the nation’s laws. He was also criticized by many Egyptians frustrated with rampant crime and a struggling economy that hadn’t shown improvement since Mubarak resigned.
Supporters say Morsy repeatedly offered Cabinet positions to secularists and liberals, only to get repeatedly rejected.
Since taking power from Morsy, Egypt’s military has installed an interim civilian government with Mansour as interim president.
But Egypt’s generals, the ones who oversaw Morsy’s ouster and led the country for a year after Mubarak’s resignation, still wield significant power.
The list of accusations against Morsy include: collaborating with the militant group Hamas to carry out hostile acts, attacking law enforcement buildings, officers and soldiers, storming prisons, vandalizing buildings and deliberately burning a prison.
He hasn’t been seen since he was pushed out of office.
“All presidents make mistakes but you don’t have the army to remove them,” the Anti-Coup National Alliance’s Dardery complained in a CNN interview Wednesday. “… What are we telling to the rest of the Arab world, the Muslim world — that bullets are better than ballots? We don’t want to buy into this. We would like to avoid extremism, we would like to avoid terrorism, and the only way is democracy back on track, respecting the will of the Egyptian people, in the presidency, in the constitution.”

WASHINGTON — The White House responded to a petition on Monday that called for the granting of asylum to a Christian family who fled their homeland of Germany to homeschool their children, choosing not to comment on the matter.
Uwe and Hannelore Romeike fled to the United States in 2008 after German authorities demanded that they stop homeschooling their six children. Homeschooling was made illegal in the country in 1938 under the dictatorship of Adolph Hitler, and the law has never been repealed, but rather strengthened. In 2007, the German Supreme Court ruled that the country’s mandate that children be sent to public school is necessary to “counteract the development of religious and philosophically motivated parallel societies.”
German officials have been cracking down on families that keep their sons and daughters at home, and have threatened them with fines, imprisonment and even the removal of the children from the household. The Romeike children were taken from their parents for a time before fleeing to the United States for refuge.
In 2010, Memphis immigration judge Lawrence Burman granted the family asylum, stating that he believed the Romeike’s would face persecution for their faith if they returned to Germany.
“[The law is] utterly repellent to everything we believe as Americans,” Burman ruled. “Homeschoolers are a particular social group that the German government is trying to suppress. This family has a well-founded fear of persecution … therefore, they are eligible for asylum … and the court will grant asylum.”
However, the United States Department of Justice soon appealed the hearing, and every court has denied the family asylum ever since, asserting that the family is not facing persecution for homeschooling as the requirement applies to all German citizens–not just Christians.
“The Romeikes [have] not shown that Germany’s enforcement of its general school-attendance law amounts to persecution against them, whether on grounds of religion or membership in a recognized social group,” the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled this past May. “There is a difference between the persecution of a discrete group and the prosecution of those who violate a generally applicable law.”
In addition to fighting the matter in the courts, the Virginia-based Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) filed an online petition this spring with the White House, urging the U.S. government to grant asylum to the family.
“Every state in the United States of America recognizes the right to homeschool, and the U.S. has the world’s largest and most vibrant homeschool community. Regrettably, this family faces deportation in spite of the persecution they will suffer in Germany,” it stated. “The Romeikes hope for the same freedom our forefathers sought. Please grant the privilege of liberty to the Romeike family.”
The White House responds to petitions that generate a minimum of 100,000 signatures within a 30-day period. The Romeike petition exceeded the needed amount of signatures, ending with 127,258 signees by the deadline.
On Monday–four months after submission, the White House responded to the petition, but said it could not comment on the case.
“To the extent that these petitions request a particular law enforcement or adjudicatory action, or address a matter before the courts, we cannot issue a comment,” it wrote.
“But while we can’t comment on this particular issue, we know that homeschooling is a popular option for many parents pursuing high academic standards for their children,” the White House continued. “Homeschooling can provide young people with the resources and attention they need to succeed academically, and we understand why their parents value this freedom.”
Michael Ferris, president of HSLDA, said that he is disappointed with the response from the Obama administration.
“No one can understand why the White House is showing so much leniency to millions of immigrants who have come here illegally in hopes of securing better jobs, but is so determined to deport this one family who has come to America in search of freedom for themselves and their children,” he stated. “This petition was the perfect opportunity for the White House to explain why this administration appealed the original grant of asylum. This was a perfect opportunity for the White House to explain the blatantly unequal treatment being received by the Romeike family. But the White House stalled for four months and said absolutely nothing.”
“When the White House simply notes that parents value their own freedom, it stops dangerously short in its statement,” Ferris said. “Where is the ringing endorsement that parental freedom is a fundamental human right? The White House silence on this point says a great deal.”
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -
A parent in Newton County is concerned about art work hanging on a classroom wall. One picture in the Alcovy High School has words that say, “God is dead.”
The Newton County School System says language arts students made the drawings from a quote in Arthur Miller’s play “The Crucible”. The pictures were posted as part of student art work for several years without receiving a complaint. “The student was not reflecting religious preferences. Basically, he’s just reflecting a quote in the book,” said Sherri Davis-Viniard, Newton County School System’s spokesperson.
As for the classroom teacher, the school system spokeswoman says, by law, administrators cannot inquire about a teacher’s religious beliefs.
“We can’t hire or fire based on religious preference. We’re not even allowed to ask,” Davis-Viniard said.
Crystal Mitchell says the words and the images upset her 10th grade daughter.
“If my child can’t pray in school and they’ve taken religion out of school, for this to be plastered on the walls of the public school is a huge concern to me,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell believes the drawings should be taken down.
“It doesn’t have a place on the school wall — just doesn’t have a place in public school,” she said.
Mitchell says other parents tell her they’re also concerned about the drawings in that high school classroom.
The school system says there are no plans to remove the drawings, calling it strictly student art work.
GOD’S NOT DEAD!
A pastor who was arrested for reading the Bible to the public in California has been found not guilty by a judge.
Superior Court Judge, Timothy Freer ruled that the prosecution’s case against Pastor Brett Coronado and Mark Mackey failed to prove the law had been broken.
Pastor Coronado and Mr Mackey were outside a local Government car registration centre in February 2011, when a California Highway Patrol officer took Mr Mackey’s Bible away and arrested him.
Later, Pastor Coronado was also arrested and a non-profit religious liberty law firm Advocates for Faith and Freedom took on their case.
The Police said the group was preaching to a captive audience and were trespassing because they needed a proper permit to protest or demonstrate.
The men faced penalties of up to 90 days in jail and a $400 fine.
The defence argued that Pastor Coronado and Mr Mackey’s actions did not match the legal definition of protest or demonstration.
Defence attorney Robert Tyler said his clients were “very satisfied” with the ruling, and the case was really about protecting free speech.
He said: “In a judicial system where justice seems to be fleeting in many instances, we are very excited that we won this case and are pleased to have had a judge who seriously considered the evidence and applied the law in a fashion that was intellectually honest regardless of his personal views.”
Mr Tyler will now proceed with the civil suit that he filed against California Highway Patrol, which had been on hold pending the outcome of the trial.
And prosecutors are understood to be investigating options for an appeal of the judge’s decision

Daniel 12:1-4 “Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”
I saw this study last week and was absolutely mesmerized. Not only was this a beautifully crafted report (with very interesting infographics), but it had fascinating information about media use in the Middle East.
What stands out the most is how many individuals in these countries are using multiple media devices, and how frequently they are using them (even in countries where there are human rights violations). These statistics bring great hope.
For the past few years, Open Doors has been working to help spread the gospel in the Middle East through satellite television and other multimedia means. And the great news is that the audience is not a small one… these programs are capable of reaching a large number of people!
In Algeria, ‘Ordinance 06-03’ was introduced in 2006, and it restricts the exercise of any religion other than Islam. The law hinders or stops Christian evangelism.
Initially, this law was devastating for Christians in Algeria… they would now be facing a whole new realm of persecution if they shared their faith with a friend or a neighbor. Despite this law, God has made a way for the gospel to spread in this country.
“Today, satellite TV is the medium we use, because it allows us to reach a multitude of people,” shares one Algerian Christian. “ At the end of the program, people see local phone numbers displayed on the screen, so it isn’t expensive for them to call. When a program has spoken to someone, they phone us for information or to ask questions about the Christian faith. We tell them where they can find a church, or we send them CDs or Christian books.”
As the report indicates, the impact of the media is changing worldwide… especially in the Middle East. It is proving to be a very effective way to evangelize, even in areas where it is illegal.
Would you join us in praying for our brothers and sisters working on these programs, and for the people they are reaching? Please pray for their safety, courage and wisdom as they continue with this new wave of evangelism.

We are to hold each other accountable!!! God will judge all of us in the end and yes, we need to be careful of the planks in our own eyes before pointing out someone else’s sin. However, the Bible is our instruction manual, and there are some topics spelled out within it’s pages that are clearly an abomination to God.
Atheists do NOT believe that a God exists! Why would He let someone who denies His existence into heaven? If you don’t believe in God, or that His son Jesus died and rose again….. this is something you should seriously look into and pray about.
Joel Osteen mixes truth w/lies and wants to make everybody feel “good.” He does not want to rock the boat of popularity, so he will NOT speak of any biblical FACTS that might offend his public. These are the facts…….
We are NOT to have sex before marriage. Homosexual acts ARE SIN. God hates all sin but loves the sinner. Gay marriage is NOT of the Lord. We are not to have false gods or idols. Astrology is not acceptable in His eyes. We are not to go to fortune tellers or play with Taro Cards. We are not to glorify witches, including the so called “good” witches of Wicca. ”
Beware those who tickle your ears and lead you astray because they tell you things you want to hear. Read the Bible. Learn it well. Our God have very clear ideas about sin and how to deal with it. We are to hold each other accountable by using the Word of God to convict sinners who may be led astray.
Wicca (English pronunciation: /ˈwɪkə/) is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion. It was developed in England during the first half of the 20th century and it was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. It draws upon a diverse set of ancient pagan and 20th century hermetic motifs for its theological structure and ritual practice.”
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:22 (NKJV)
But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness…. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.”

israelhayom.com & World Chaos News- Hours after a Grad rocket was intercepted by an Israeli Iron Dome battery in the southern city of Eilat for the first time, a Salafi Palestinian terror organization claimed responsibility for the attack. The group claimed the rocket attack was in retaliation for a weekend drone strike, attributed to Israel by foreign media, which killed four Palestinian terrorists as they were readying to launch a rocket into Israel.
The Salafi group – The Mojahideen Shura Council Environs of Jerusalem – which operates in Sinai and the Gaza Strip, issued a statement on Tuesday saying that “we bombed Umm al-Rashrash (the Arabic name for Eilat) with a Grad rocket was a rapid response to the crime committed by Jews recently, in which four jihadi fighters were killed by drone in Sinai.”
The organization went on to issue threats, saying “the Mojahideen have infused fear and awe into the hearts of the criminal Jews who were forced to scurry into bomb shelters in the middle of the night. Some of them got scared and announced that three rockets had been fired, and some of them were intercepted.” Full article israelhayom.com
US secretary of state: US views settlements as “illegitimate.”
WASHINGTON — Speaking during a press availability with the foreign minister of Brazil, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that he and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas had known for some time that new Israeli settlement construction in east Jerusalem and the West Bank would be announced.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu was completely upfront with me and with President Abbas that he would be announcing some additional building that would take place in places that will not affect the peace map, that will not have any impact on the capacity to have a peace agreement,” Kerry said.
“That means that it is building within the so-called blocs in areas that many people make a presumption – obviously not some Palestinians or others – will be part of Israel in the future,” Kerry added. “He has specifically agreed not to disturb what might be the potential for peace going forward.”
Israel in recent days has announced tenders for or advanced the planning process on about 3,100 housing units in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, areas Palestinians claim for their own independent state.
Kerry made clear that settlements at any time, and not just during the peace process, were considered illegitimate by the United States.
“There are realities within life in Israel that also have to be taken into account here going forward,” Kerry said. “President Abbas understood that coming into these talks.”
Kerry and Abbas had a phone call scheduled for this afternoon.
The chief negotiator for Palestine Saeb Erekat voiced surprise when the Israeli settlements were announced.
“If the Israeli government believes that every week they’re going to cross a red line by settlement activity … what they’re advertising is the unsustainability of the negotiations,” chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Sunday.
Kerry has set a nine-month deadline for the peace talks, which he hopes will spur the two parties to negotiate in earnest and with haste.
“Our hope is that we get to the real issues on which we ought to be focusing, which are the final status settlement – the final status issues,” Kerry added. “I’m very hopeful we will get there very, very soon.”
“It demonstrated a willingness by Prime Minister Netanyahu to make tough decisions when he determines they are in the best interests of the Israeli people,” a US official told The Jerusalem Post. “The release of prisoners by the Israeli government is a very difficult but necessary step to give peace negotiations a chance.”
Netanyahu has agreed to the staggered release of 104 Palestinian prisoners, many convicted of murder. The first 26 are due to go free early on Wednesday, and political analysts say the recent splurge of settlement moves was a bid by Netanyahu to placate his legion of supporters who reject the so-called two-state solution.

Violence marks end of Ramadan in Iraq
- The past year has seen a marked increase in attacks in Iraq, writes Arwa Damon
- Despite occasionally diffusing bombs, the government cannot stem the violence, she says
- July was the deadliest month in Iraq in the last five years
- According to the U.N., 1,057 Iraqis were killed and 2,326 wounded last month
(CNN) — In a dry and dusty soccer field the boys shrieked and screamed as kids in the midst of a highly competitive soccer game often do.
A neighborhood resident pointed towards another three boys on their bikes off to the side watching.
“See where they are? That is where the cars would pull up,” he told me. “They would drag a man out and execute him. Some days it was more than one.”
Just a few years ago, this same soccer field was an Al Qaeda killing ground where, like clockwork every day right before evening prayers, executions would take place, and young boys — the same ages as those now playing soccer in front of us — would gather to watch the macabre event, seemingly immune to the horrors they were witnessing.
That was in February, when we were in Iraq filming stories for the 10-year anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. In April I found out that a couple of the boys we filmed were killed in a bombing down the road. The bomb — containing 2 kilograms of highly explosive material — was hidden in a plastic bag, placed outside of a three-story building that had a popular ice cream parlor on the first floor. The boys were there.
This is the tragic norm of Iraq that people are forced to live with. Violence few understand, fear that permeates every aspect of life, where even a simple action like taking children to eat ice cream can result in death.
This past year has seen a marked increase in attacks, especially coordinated simultaneous strikes, a trademark of ISI — the Islamic State of Iraq — an umbrella organization that includes al Qaeda in Iraq.
Baghdadis a maze of blast walls and checkpoints, with Iraqi security forces “beefing up” security but hardly accomplishing anything more than creating ever-more frustrating traffic jams. The government touts instances when it has managed to diffuse bombs, but the harsh reality is that they simply cannot stem the violence.
July was the deadliest month in Iraq in the last five years since the peak of sectarian violence in 2006 and 2007. According to the U.N., 1,057 Iraqis were killed and another 2,326 were wounded in acts of terrorism and violence last month.
And on Saturday bombings spanning from Nassiriya in the south, to Baghdad, to Mosul in the north claimed dozens of lives and wounded nearly two hundred more. It was Eid, the three day holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The explosions mostly went off in predominantly Shiite areas — at coffee shops, markets and bus stops.
“Where are the security forces?” a man at one of the bomb sites asked angrily. “If you — Prime Minister Maliki — cannot deal with security, let someone else!”
Anger and frustration among Iraqis is heartbreakingly palpable.
The Islamic State of Iraq claimed responsibility in a statement, saying that the violence was intended to be a message to the “animals of Rawafdh ‘Shiite’ and their government.”
Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) was once described by the U.S. military before it withdrew from Iraq in 2011 as being “on the run.” But that clearly is no longer the case.
To start with, Iraq security forces were never capable of containing the “security gains” of the U.S.-military era.
AQI and other Sunni extremist groups have capitalized on the predominantly Shiite-led government’s failure to bring Sunnis into the political fold. Iraq’s Sunni population maintains that it is being systematically targeted by government forces and grows more alienated and disenfranchised by the day. And Iraq remains a nation where violence and politics go hand in hand.
AQI has also expanded its operations into Syria under the umbrella of “Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant (Syria).” Its head, who goes by the pseudonym Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi or Abu Dua’a, among others, is believed to be mostly operating out of Syria.
But al Qaeda’s resurgence and its operations are just one part of the messy and vicious patchwork of forces that govern this part of the world at the expense of the civilian population sucked into an existential battle that started millennia ago.
Those forces include the ongoing regional struggle pitting Shiite Iran against Sunni Saudi Arabia and Qatar — regional powerhouse who have found proxy battlefields in Syria and Iraq — along with Russia and America.
The fates of Iraq and Syria are growing more intertwined by the day, and it is the civilians always who continue to be victims of this lethal web of dynamics over which they have little control.
- New species discovered by researchers in Mozambique
- Scientists carried out first major biodiversity study in Gorongosa National Park
- Frog that can’t hop and “Chewbacca bat” found in the park
- The forest was ravaged by years of conflict and poaching
(CNN) — A furry bat named after a notorious Star Wars character, bombardier beetles that unleash explosive, foul-smelling gas to defend themselves, ants that can’t walk or stand on flat surfaces and a mysterious cave-dwelling frog that runs instead of hopping.
These bizarre and wildly interesting creatures are just some of the 1,200 species of animals and plants that have been documented for the first time by scientists in the Gorongosa National Park, a stunning biodiversity haven in central Mozambique.
In mid-April, a team of 15 local and international scientists ventured into the park’s spectacular rolling woodlands, deep gorges and riverine forests to conduct the first comprehensive biodiversity survey in a remote and largely unexplored area that was ravaged by years of war and poaching.
For about four weeks, the biologists were transformed into nature detectives surveying the Cheringoma Plateau, the part of the park that was least known biologically. Armed with rubber boots, headlamps and a huge variety of sophisticated equipment, they embarked on a painstaking mission to document life in the area and discover the rare, threatened and new-to-science species that live in it.
They climbed giant trees and rapelled from limestone cliffs to get samples of organisms from almost inaccessible canyons; they used ultraviolet lights and pheromone traps to attract insects; remote cameras and traditional tracking techniques to document large mammals; ultrasonic sound detectors to record hard-to-get wildlife, mist nets to capture wild birds and pitfall traps for reptiles and amphibians.
“We found all kinds of really exciting things,” says expedition leader Piotr Naskrecki, associate director of the soon-to-open Biodiversity Laboratory in Gorongosa.
“We’ve at least doubled the number of species that is known from the national park, probably closer to tripling it,” he adds. “Some of them are new to Mozambique and some are new to science.”
Major findings consisted of 182 species of birds, including four rare forest dwellers recorded for the first time in Gorongosa. They also found several species of cricket-like katydids that are new to science, as well as a leaf katydid that had not been seen alive since the 1800s, and 54 species of mammals, including diminutive elephant shrews.
Other highlights included more than 100 species of ants, 47 species of reptiles, 33 species of frogs, hundreds of species of beetles and more than 320 species of plants that are new to Mozambique.
And, of course, the “Chewbacca bat,” (real name Triaenops persicus) named after Han Solo’s hairy sidekick in the Star Wars movies, and a strange silver and black Kassina frog that is probably new to science.
“It was an extremely rich experience in terms of adding data to what we’ve known about the park,” says Naskrecki, who is also an entomologist at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology.
Sitting at the southernmost tip of the Great Rift Valley, Gorongosa used to be one of Africa’s richest wildlife refuges, a natural wonderland teeming with large populations of buffalo, lions, elephants and hippos.
But it all changed in the mid-1970s when Mozambique descended into a bloody civil war. The conflict lasted until 1992 and had a devastating impact on Gorongosa.
The park was turned from a wildlife treasure into a battlefield. Thousands of animals roaming its open grasslands were killed by warring groups and entire populations of wildlife came close to extinction.
“After the war, there was very little left,” says Naskrecki. “The place seemed to be doomed.”
He explains that before the war the park sheltered some 14,000 African buffalo; after the conflict, there were about 100 of them. “The same thing with lions,” adds Naskrecki. “There used to be about 2,000 lions in the park and after the war there were maybe 30 left,” he continues. “It also had about 2,500 elephants and after the war it had only 200.”
The decimation continued after the war with extensive poaching and illegal logging.
But hopes for the park’s revival have returned in recent years, thanks in large part to the efforts of the Gorongosa Restoration Project, an initiative led by retired American IT entrepreneur Greg Carr, aiming to bring the fragile ecosystem back to its former glory.
Piotr Naskrecki, entomologist
In 2008, Carr’s foundation signed a 20-year contract with the Mozambican government to rejuvenate and protect the park’s diverse ecosystem, as well as create a thriving ecotourism industry that would benefit communities in the area.
Key to the restoration efforts is the documentation and studying of life in Gorongosa — a process that started with the scientific expedition in mid-April.
Naskrecki says the information recorded and collected, which will be presented in its entirety in a report later this year, will help guide restoration efforts in the park. It will also provide proof that Gorongosa is still a biodiversity hotspot that needs to be protected from industrial development, such as mining.
“Every single species we found, every orchid, every katydid, every frog is a powerful argument for maintaining the protective status of this area,” says Naskrecki
“The main point, however, is not that we found unusual, rare, or new species, but that we found so many of them and in thriving populations. All this indicates that Gorongosa National Park is successfully recovering from the damage caused by the 17 years of civil war, which left many of its species decimated.
“The small animals … may seem insignificant compared to lions and elephants, which are also recovering nicely, but they are very good indicators of the health and richness of the Gorongosa ecosystem.”
Note From VineofLife: Thought this was interesting and wanted to pass it on to you….
The ACLJ reports the Iranian family of American Pastor Saeed Abedini was once again able to visit him in Evin prison in Iran. Despite previous threats from Iranian authorities that they would cut off Pastor Saeed’s visitation, he was able to spend some brief time with his family in Iran earlier today.
Unfortunately, we have learned that Pastor Saeed’s internal injuries are causing him increased pain. Pastor Saeed has been suffering from internal bleeding – the results of intense beatings he has sustained in prison for his faith.
Recently, Iranian authorities allowed him to be treated by a doctor at a local hospital. Since that time, he has continued to take the medication he was prescribed. However, his pain has recently increased, to the point that on one occasion he fainted from the immense anguish.
This is a disturbing turn of events. It serves as a renewed reminder of the dangerous conditions Pastor Saeed faces in one of the world’s worst prisons.
Iran must see to it that Pastor Saeed is treated humanely and receives the critical medical attention he so desperately needs. He must be release from this torment for his Christian faith and be allowed to return home to receive medical attention in the United States and more importantly to be reunited with his loving family.
Even as Pastor Saeed suffers, Iran’s brutal crackdown on Christians continues. There are reports that three more Christians were just recently arrested without charge in Iran. Reportedly, they have been beaten, one to the point of being hospitalized. Another was recently convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison (by the same notorious judge who convicted and sentenced Saeed) for, among other things, membership in an “anti-security organization,” i.e. a Christian church. Court documents obtained by an Iranian Christian media source show that he had previously been found guilty of “apostasy” (converting to Christianity).
It is vitally important that we highlight these situations. Pastor Saeed is the face of Christian persecution in Iran, but he is far from the only one. The ACLJ is preparing to launch new initiatives to highlight the persecuted church around the world and the work to expose their human rights abusers and shine light into the darkest corners of the globe.
We will continue to bring you updates on Pastor Saeed’s and these new efforts.
Please continue to pray for Pastor Saeed’s freedom, share his story and how your friends can take action at SaveSaeed.org, and learn more about the upcoming prayer vigils being sponsored around the globe on September 26th.
(By The Truth) Has the crust of the earth become more unstable? All over the planet, giant sinkholes are forming. Many of them are so massive and are opening up so suddenly that they are actually swallowing cars, homes and even people. So why is this happening? Is the earth’s crust collapsing? Is it expanding? Is something else to blame for this phenomenon? It seems like there is a story about another giant sinkhole in the news almost every single day now, and scientists seem to be at a loss for an explanation. Could human activity be responsible? Yes, the number of sinkholes in the United States definitely seems to be increasing, but we are also seeing massive sinkholes occur all over the globe – often in very rural areas. There just doesn’t seem to be any pattern that would seem to indicate that human activity is the primary factor. Hopefully scientists can figure out whatever is causing it, because this epidemic just seems to keep getting worse.
For example, a giant sinkhole that is 60 feet wide suddenly opened up and threatened to swallow an entire resort near Disney World on Sunday…
A 60-foot-wide sinkhole formed under a resort in central Florida late Sunday, forcing guests out of their rooms as one three-story building collapsed and another slowly sank.
Guests at the Summer Bay Resort in Clermont, about 10 minutes from Walt Disney World, called for help before the collapse, saying they heard loud noises and windows cracking. All guests inside the buildings — an estimated 35 people, authorities said — were evacuated before the first structure crumbled.
This incident was so shocking that it made headlines all over the country. The guests of the resort were absolutely stunned as the walls of the buildings began to crumble and sink into the ground…
“You could see the ground falling away from the building where the building started leaning,” Gade said. “People were in shock to see a structure of that size just sink into the ground slowly. … You could see the stress fractures up the side of the structure getting wider.”
In one of the adjacent buildings, firefighters and police officers knocking on doors woke up Maggie Moreno of San Antonio. She couldn’t get the door to her unit open all the way.
“It sounded like popcorn,” said Moreno, who was visiting with her husband, daughter and two grandchildren. “The building was just snapping.”
And without a doubt, Florida seems to be particularly vulnerable to giant sinkholes. In Winter Park, Florida a massive sinkhole recently opened up very suddenly and swallowed an entire swimming pool…
Insurance adjusters and geo-technicians spent Wednesday morning at the scene of a large sinkhole that opened in the backyard of a Winter Park home.
The hole, which measures 50 feet wide and 30 feet deep, swallowed a swimming pool when it opened late Monday night. No one was injured.
Orange County building inspectors declared a two-story home at 2300 Roxbury Drive and a utility shed “unsafe” to occupy as a result.
But these kinds of sinkholes are not just forming in Florida and in other places where geologists are telling us that they are “supposed” to be forming.
For example, a giant sinkhole that recently appeared out in Kansas is considered to be such an anomaly that it is actually attracting tourists…
A massive sinkhole has opened in a Kansas field, drawing tourists for an ill-advised look into the void.
A Wallace County rancher found the sinkhole on Aug. 1 on land about 20 miles from the Kansas-Colorado border. The hole is about 90 feet deep and 200 to 300 feet wide.
Landowner Dalton Hoss said his brother discovered the crater-like pit while surveying pastureland.
“He called me up, and his voice was quaking,” Hoss told KWCH 12. “He said, ‘You’ll never believe what I just seen.’”
Wallace County Sheriff Larry Sanders said the sinkhole appeared out of nowhere.
“Man had nothing to do with this,” Sander said. “This is a God thing. There’s no oil well around here, there are no irrigation wells anywhere near. This is something that just happened.”
The sinkhole out in Kansas is in an extremely rural location, but they also have been popping up right in the middle of major cities. In fact, a massive sinkhole that recently appeared right in the middle of Montreal, Canada was so large that it was able to swallow an entire backhoe…
A section of a downtown commercial street swallowed a backhoe on Monday as city crews were getting ready to repair a leaky water main.
The backhoe had started to chip at asphalt near the corner of Ste-Catherine and Guy streets when the ground crumbled beneath it and the heavy machine tumbled in.
The driver of the backhoe was not injured but was taken to hospital to be checked out as a precaution, city officials said.
And some cities are actually being eaten alive by giant sinkholes. For example, more than 40 large sinkholes are plaguing the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania…
Pennsylvania’s state capital is suffering from a rash of monster sinkholes, but city officials are too broke to do anything about it.
Loose soil and leaky, century-old underground water pipes are to blame for the municipal nightmare, which came to a head on the New Year’s Eve when a 50-foot sinkhole yawned open along Fourth Street, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The eight-foot deep crater — one of at least 41 in the city — is so large, locals made it a “check-in” site on the social media site Four Square.
Some cheeky residents and the media nicknamed the hole “Super Sinkhole Walter.”
And of course we find this phenomenon all the way out on the west coast as well. In fact, one gigantic sinkhole is threatening an entire housing division out near San Francisco, California…
Scott and Robin Spivey had a sinking feeling that something was wrong with their home when cracks began snaking across their walls in March.
The cracks soon turned into gaping fractures, and within two weeks their 600-square-foot garage broke from the house and the entire property — manicured lawn and all — dropped 10 feet below the street.
It wasn’t long before the houses on both sides collapsed as the ground gave way in the Spivey’s neighborhood in Lake County, about 100 miles north of San Francisco.
But that is nothing compared to what is happening down in Louisiana. As you read this, the entire town of Bayou Corne, Louisiana is being swallowed by a sinkhole.
Are you starting to get the idea?
Sometimes these sinkholes appear so suddenly that people are actually being swallowed by them. Back in February, an absolutely enormous sinkhole appeared so rapidly underneath a home in suburban Tampa that it swallowed a man while he was sleeping. The man woke up as he was being pulled into the earth and he started yelling for help. His brother tried to pull him out but it was too late. His body has never been found.
Can you remember ever hearing of such bizarre sinkhole stories in the past?
This phenomenon is happening all over the nation. This year sinkholes have caused major roads to close in New Jersey, in Arizona, and in Ohio. It was estimated that the road that was swallowed in Ohio would be closed for months.
Over on the other side of the planet they are experiencing a similar thing. For example, a giant sinkhole recently swallowed an entire cement truck over in China.
And a giant sinkhole opened up so rapidly in the city of Shenzen that five people died…
FIVE people have died after a 10-metre wide sinkhole opened up at the gates of an industrial estate in Shenzhen, the southern Chinese boom town neighbouring Hong Kong.
The Shenzhen Longgang district government said on its verified page on Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, that five people had died and added that it was investigating the incident.
The sinkhole formed just outside the Huamao Industrial Park in Shenzhen on Monday evening, at a time when many factory workers would have been changing shifts, according to the website of Beijing-based newspaper the Guangming Daily.
The state-run Shanghai Daily newspaper said that rescuers saved one man.
In fact, many of the largest and craziest sinkholes that we have seen in recent years have actually appeared in other countries. The following is from one of myprevious articles about sinkholes…
You can see some photos of some of the craziest sinkholes in recent years right here. It would be one thing if giant sinkholes were just appearing in the United States, but unfortunately that is not the case.
For instance, a sinkhole that appeared in the middle of Guatemala City in 2010 was about 30 stories deep.
Down in Sarisarinama, Venezuela some sinkholes have appeared in recent years that are more than 1,000 feet wide.
So what do scientists have to say about this?
Have they come to the conclusion that the number of sinkholes is increasing?
Well, the official story seems to be “we don’t know“…
Islamist terrorists have exploited the lawless Sinai to perpetrate vicious attacks on Egyptian Christians there, as reported earlier this week in the New York Times. Indeed, throughout Egypt, the Copts continue to be targeted and scapegoated for the ousting of the Muslim Brotherhood.
As defenseless and abandoned as Mideast Christians seem today, it is worth remembering their historical roots, and recognizing just how much the plight of Middle East Christians has deteriorated. Over 2,000 years ago, Christianity was born as a religion and spread from Jerusalem to other parts of the Levant, including territories in modern Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt. The Christian faith flourished as one of the major religions in the Middle East until the Muslim conquests of the 7th century.
Despite Muslim domination of the region, Christians comprised an estimated 20% of the Middle East population until the early 20th century. Today, however, Christians make up a mere 2-5% of the Middle East and their numbers are fast dwindling. Writing in the Winter 2001 issue of Middle East Quarterly, scholar Daniel Pipes estimated that Middle East Christians would “likely drop to” half of their numbers “by the year 2020″ because of declining birth rates, and a pattern of “exclusion and persecution” leading to emigration.
The “Arab Spring” has only worsened conditions for the indigenous Christians of the Middle East. Like the Kurds, Middle East Christians are a stateless minority, struggling to survive in the world’s toughest neighborhood. But the Kurds at least have enjoyed partial autonomy in Iraqi Kurdistan since 1991 and most of them are Sunni Muslim, making it easier for them to survive in the Muslim-dominated Middle East. Christians, on the other hand, are a religious minority that controls no territory and is entirely subject to the whims of their hosts. These host countries – with the exception of Israel – offer a grim future to Middle East Christians. Home to one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, Egypt also has the largest Christian population in the Middle East, totaling 8-12 million people. But because Christian Copts make up only about 10-15% of Egypt’s estimated 80 million people, they have for decades lived in fear as second-class citizens, subjected to attacks on churches, villages, homes, and shops; mob killings; and the abduction and forced Islamic conversion of Christian women compelled to marry Muslim men. Such abuse took place under the staunchly secular regime of Hosni Mubarak, but grew much worse under the rule of Mohammed Morsi, the jailed Muslim Brotherhood activist who succeeded Mubarak, and they are now being blamed for Morsi’s ouster.
In Lebanon, Christians represent a bigger portion of the population, so their fate is for now less precarious than that of their Egyptian coreligionists, but their long-term prospects are worrisome. The Christian population is estimated to have dropped from over 50% (according to a 1932 census) to about 40%. Over the last few years, the de facto governing power in Lebanon has become Hezbollah, the radical and heavily-armed Shiite movement sponsored by Iran. With all of the spillover violence and instability produced by the Syrian civil war and Hezbollah’s open involvement in it, and/or the next war that Hezbollah decides to start with Israel, the emigration of Christians out of Lebanon will probably only increase in the coming years, leaving those who stay increasingly vulnerable.
In Syria, 2.5 million Christians comprised about 10% of the population and enjoyed some protection under the secular and often brutal regimes of the Assad dynasty. But as jihadi groups fighting Assad extend their territorial control, the past protection of Christians is often the cause of their current persecution by resentful Sunnis who revile the Assad regime and seek to impose Sharia law wherever they can. Christians have been regularly targeted and killed by rebels, and the sectarian chaos and violence that will likely prevail in Assad’s wake will only increase the number of Christians fleeing Syria.
In Iraq, the bloody aftermath of the 2003 invasion demonstrated how dangerous life can become for a Christian minority when a multicultural society in the Middle East explodes into sectarian violence. By 2008, half of the 800,000 Iraqi Christians were estimated to have left, rendering those remaining even more insecure. In 2010, Salafist extremists attacked a Baghdad church during Sunday Mass, killing or wounding nearly the whole congregation. Such incidents turn any communal gathering into a potential massacre, forcing Christians across the Middle East to ask the ultimate question of faith:
“Am I prepared to die for Christian worship?”
The so-called “Arab Spring” threatens to exacerbate matters in much of the Middle East, as Islamists now either control the government or influence it enough to persecute Christians with impunity. As new Islamist regimes in the Middle East condone religious intolerance and introduce Sharia and blasphemy laws, the long-term trend for Christians in their ancestral lands will only grow bleaker.
The one bright spot is the state of Israel – “the only place in the Middle East [where] Christians are really safe,” according to the Vicar of St. George’s Church in Baghdad, Canon Andrew White. Home to Christianity’s holiest sites and to a colorful array of Christian denominations, Israel has the only growing Christian community in the Middle East.
Because Israel is the only non-Muslim state in all of the Middle East and North Africa, it represents a small victory for religious minorities in the region, and serves as the last protector of freedom and security for Jews, Christians, Bahai, Druze, and others. Without Israel, how much more vulnerable would Christians in the Middle East become?
(Earth Sky News) Awesome photos from around the world showing Perseid meteors – August’s shooting stars – streaking along in the night sky over the past few weeks.
The Perseid meteor shower has probably peaked (August 11-13, 2013), giving us many, many wonderful photos of Perseid meteors, posted by friends on EarthSky pages on Facebookand Google+. We wish we could post them all here! Thanks to all who posted. Enjoy!
Mike Lewinski said this Perseid fireball was so bright that it illuminated the clouds. Notice the greenish color. Mike was at Embudo, New Mexico. Thanks for posting!

Rick Joyner – We are now into the time when the glory of the Lord is being revealed. Ultimate evil is being revealed as well. As I already mentioned, when we started to pray for the Spirit of Truth to reveal things going on in the U.S. Government that we needed to know, my biggest surprise was how so few Christians even cared about what was being brought to the light. However, I should not have been surprised or discouraged by it.
As we began to discuss last week, those in government or politics are constantly weighing things by how people might respond, how the media will spin it, or how to win the magical 51% majority. That is certainly not a kingdom mentality. It is not even a good understanding of the source of major cultural change. The great tipping points in history have seldom come from the majority; they almost always come from a very few.
A study done on these tipping points revealed that the percentage of people required to bring profound cultural change is only the square root of 1% of the population. That means that one hundred people could bring radical cultural change to a million people.
Jesus did even better than that. He took just twelve people and changed the whole world far more than it has ever been changed by any conqueror, philosophy, or religion. However, today it is hard to find those in a democratic form of government who think in terms of doing the right thing, rather than what is expedient or politically correct. Neither Jesus, nor the apostles, nor any of His true followers are primarily motivated by what people think, but rather by what God thinks. As Paul wrote, “If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ” (see Galatians 1:10).
To the degree that the fear of man controls us, it will negate our ability to serve Christ. This does not mean that we totally disregard people or do not care for them, but the same crowd that cried “Hosanna!” just five days later shouted“Crucify Him!” Two percent of the people who are passionate will usually control the 98% who are indifferent or lukewarm. This has been proven true over and over for both good and evil.
Having faith for an outcome is not the same as having faith in God. These often get confused to our detriment. If we have faith in God, we will do what is right, regardless of the outcome. If standing for what is true causes the whole world to turn against us, we must care more for the truth than the world.
In apostolic warnings about the last days, it was not those who had truth who were kept from deception, but those who had “a love for the truth” (see II Thessalonians 2:10). Having truth may not be the same as loving it. We are told“love never fails” (see I Corinthians 13:8). That could have been translated “love never quits.” Only those who are in love will never quit. Do we love truth that much? Do we love the Truth Himself so much that if it means the whole world turns against us, if it means certain death, then so be it? He is worth that kind of devotion.
